Our Story

We’re Becca and Luca, a couple of vegans living in the Austrian Alps with our rescue dog, Nala. Most of our favorite things happen outside: trail running, hiking, and exploring the mountains.

But at home, you’ll usually find us in the kitchen. Luca is trained as a professional chef, so naturally, he does most of the cooking. Becca just really likes baking (and eating) sweet things.

Alpine Vegan grew out of our love for food, adventure, and a desire to live in a way that’s kinder to the planet.

Why Go Vegan?

Living in a beautiful place has a way of making you want to protect the natural world. And for us, going vegan was the easiest way to do that.

Did you know that a plant-based diet is one of the single most impactful choices you can make for the planet? Animal agriculture is a leading driver of greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water consumption – and it comes at an enormous cost to animals too. Billions of animals are raised in conditions that most of us, if we thought about it, would find deeply uncomfortable. Choosing plants makes a difference for the earth, and for them.
We’re not here to tell anyone to be perfect. But we genuinely believe every effort counts, and that eating more plants is one of the kindest, most radical things we can do.

Fueled By Plants

Between us, we put in a lot of miles. Climbing mountains demands a whole lot of energy and proper nutrition, and we’ve never felt stronger. Every summit, every long run, every adventure is powered entirely by plants.

We get asked about protein constantly, and it makes sense – the idea that vegans are somehow undernourished is one of the most persistent myths out there. But the truth is that plant-based proteins are not just adequate… they’re exceptional! Lentils, chickpeas, tofu, tempeh, quinoa, hemp seeds, oats, and nuts all provide a ton of protein along with fiber and nutrients that most people don’t get enough of. There’s also a growing body of research linking plant-based diets to better heart health, lower inflammation, and long-term wellbeing.
